Be water smart: Drowning is preventable
Over 70 British Columbians die in preventable water-related incidents each year. July 17-23 is National Drowning Prevention Week, which aims to bring awareness and education to prevent drowning.

The Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) is a one-and-a-half day course designed to improve trauma patient outcomes by providing nurses with foundational trauma knowledge, skills, and a systematic Trauma Nursing Process to guide trauma patient care.

‎Emergency Practice, Interventions and Care Canada (EPICC) Trauma - 2024 Courses

The Specialist Trauma Advisory Network (STAN), in collaboration with medical imagers/imaging departments and trauma clinicians developed clinical practice guidelines to support clinicians when caring for the major trauma patient. The goal of this learning module is to ensure that clinicians have the right imaging for the right trauma patient at the right time.


An introductory session on how to understand and apply trauma team activation criteria in the emergency setting for a major trauma patient.


The DSTC/ASSET course will be held in Vancouver (VGH) on March 5-7, 2025 led by Dr. Phil Dawe and Dr. Chantalle Grant. The three-day course costs $3,000 per participant.

The 2025 FHA Trauma and Resuscitation Symposium will be held at RCH on Feb 20, 2025. This education event is open to pre-hospital providers, allied health staff, nurses and physicians. Physicians are eligible for UBC CPD mainpro+ credits for attending.

Cost for nurses and allied health to attend is $50 and includes lunch and snacks.

Save the date! The Third Annual Trauma and Critical Care Conference will be held on Saturday, May 3 at The Prestige Oceanfront in Sooke (reduced rate hotel rooms available). The topic will be trauma and critical care debate/learnings, and the keynote speaker will be Scott Weingart from the EMCRIT podcast. A buffet dinner and dance will follow the event.
