Reappointments

PHSA Medical Staff (dentists, midwifes, nurse practitioners, clinical scientists and physicians) must renew their membership with the applicable program of the PHSA.
Reappointment 2024

The 2024 reappointment cycle is taking place between January and June 2024. All recommendations for reappointment are expected to be submitted to the Board for approval in September 2024. Please direct any questions or concerns to Reappointment@phsa.ca.

Reappointment process

We have created a pictograph outlining the general process and timeframes for reappointment to the medical staff. This process is intended as a guide for medical staff and medical leaders.

Why do I need to participate in the reappointment process?

Credentialing and privileging are often thought of as processes that apply only to the initial request for medical staff appointment and privileges. They are part of an ongoing process of confirming licensure, insurance and assessing competence.

Regular assessment of medical staff competence is a critical component to promote the continuous provision of high quality care to patients.

Educational modules

Medical staff must complete a specialty-specific privileging dictionary(ies) as part of their reappointment package. There are two very useful non-mandatory educational modules designed to help medical staff and leadership complete and review the privileging dictionaries.

Medical staff interviews

If you are a provisional or active member of medical staff, your medical leader is expected to reach out to you to conduct an interview as part of the review process for reappointment to the medical staff. Your medical leader may reference the following criteria checklist with you during the interview.
