The appointment process of personnel to support research at PHSA's various programs is complex. There are HR advisors at each of PHSA's research sites who can provide guidance and support to help you hire personnel.
The people you hire may include PHSA employees, university employees or non‐employees (i.e., students or independent contractors). In addition, personnel may be funded in different ways, such as through core funds, grant funds, contracts, scholarships, fellowships, salary awards, and stipends. They may hold permanent, temporary, or casual status due to the nature of research funding.
Depending on where your research funding is held and administered, you may choose to hire your research personnel through your university (e.g. the University of British Columbia) or through PHSA.
