Innovating and improving pain services across B.C.
Pain Care BC (PCBC) is a provincial health improvement network. PCBC is dedicated to working with health-care partners to optimize health outcomes for patients living with pain and to improve the quality and coordination of pain services across B.C. The network also promotes innovation in pain care to enhance provider and patient experience.
Our strategic objectives include:
- Improving treatments and supports for chronic pain
- Preventing the onset of chronic pain
- Empowering people to better manage chronic pain
- Increasing the capacity of health care professionals to manage pain
- Improving how pain is understood and addressed
The executive steering committee operates as the core provincial operational governance structure for Pain Care BC. This committee includes senior medical and operational leadership from each regional health authority.
With the overall goal of improving the care and health services for B.C. patients experiencing pain, the committee acts as a strategic advisory body in developing strategies and operational work plans under the provincial mandate of PCBC. The committee is the primary provincial group that shares and disseminates health system policy information related to pain.
