BC Children's Hospital Emergency Department Survey

Between January and March 2021, 102 Emergency Departments (including pre-hospital care/paramedicine) across BC were surveyed.

In 2018, surveys were sent to patients and their families to ask how they perceived the quality of care they received at the BC Children’s Hospital Emergency Department.

The BC Office of Patient-Centred Measurement coordinated this survey, along with other provincial surveys.

The BC Children’s Hospital Emergency Department is the only PHSA Emergency Department. It is one of more than 100 emergency departments included in the province-wide patient experience survey.

The provincial emergency department (ED) sector survey 2018 was piloted January 1 – March 31, 2018, at 109 emergency departments across BC. This survey included pre-hospital ambulance care, emergency department care, patient safety, continuity across transitions and patient health outcomes. PHSA’s one emergency department at BC Children’s Hospital and BCEHS ambulance services (pre-hospital ambulance care) participated.

Survey results for the province and each health authority are available from the Ministry of Health.
